Hi guys n gals, Thaught it open my first post on this forum with the good old LIVEBOX as a topic.... I think this one should have its own forum altogether. Im sure there gonna be many issues with these.

I have one set up here in the UK, and I have the benefit of a the Outlaws having one in France.

Firslty in France you get a small USB WiFi Dongle not the silly USB long tailed device that seems to get very hot... Im sure they will issue these here soon.

Secondly, many people with already descovered that Wanadoo DO NOT want to offer any support on the LIVEBOX beond what they supply you with.

At the moment, ive got 2 wireless, and 5 Wired Computers working of my LIVEBOX, and Also my XBOX and PS2.

This weekends job is to finalize the File shring and Printer sharing.

Anyone done this yet?

Anyone need Help with the LIVEBOX, follow onto this post, ill try help all I can....

Hi

I am at the same stage now; got my laptop connected through internal wireless card, took some doing but article on Wanadoo helped (http://www.wanadoo.co.uk/help/id/7118.htm) got the other 2 desktop PCs connected but want to get wireless printing as well.

To access the config of the live box the id and password is 'admin' can then get to the router setup on advanced pages but not really sure how to do this; does anyone have the wireless printing incorporated, is it just a case of getting a wireless print server and hey presto!?

Any help would be very welcome

Cheers

EddyB

Working on that this weekend, ive now got 7 hard wired computers running off the LIVEBOX, Using the RED rj45 port on the LIVEBOX direct to a 10 port HUB.

Im guessing that if I use a print server that will allow DHCP networking from the LIVEBOX then printing should be fine.

As for the File sharing, thats still not working, Gonna look at possibly naming convensions withing networking, and perhaps that will sort that one too

Could you not connect the printer to one of the PC's and then share accross using the File and Print Share service?

Trying to get it working on mine as mate at work said it should be fine but have my doubts? Really wanting to not have to pay for a wireless or wire print server.

HI,

I also have a livebox and guess what, I'm VERY pleased with it!! No problem to set up apart from a belkin pcmcia card that took ages! Anyway, its all working with 3 wireless laptops. I have file sharing working perfectly. I didn't have to set anything up for file sharing, it just worked! My laptops were already set up for this, when used with my previous wireless router (Linksys WAG54G) which is going in the bin!!!!!!!! As far as I can tell, file/printer sharing is all done in windows.

I have a D-Link ethernet print server which I am about to set up and test and I also have a printer connected directly to one of the three laptops but they can all share it. Need to test that works too. Both print methods worked on my old router. Again, I don't think you need to set anything up in the router?

Here's my question! The Livebox has a USB (A) socket above the "1" & "2" buttons. Could this be a built in USB print server? Many routers have built in print servers. The wanadoo stuff seems to say this connector is "coming soon."

Any ideas? I have set everything up with ease, & very pleased on the whole. Something else thats REALLY clever, I bought a two line switchbox on ebay USA that lets you connect your Wireless & Talk line and your BT phone line into one telephone! In other words, when you dial OUT it uses the wanadoo line (for free calls) when you receive a call on either line, your phone rings! Brilliant. You don't need to phones or two sets of cordless phones, the little switcher does the clever bit! Very pleased!! If you want details, contact me here and I'll gladly pass it on. Cheers, Clarky

A bit more......

Files/drives on your computers need to be set up for sharing, and a shared printer needs to be "installed" on each machine. Obviously, the machine with the printer needs to be on in order to print.

The 2 line switch box routes both lines to your one phone for incoming calls, and outgoing calls go via wanadoo by default. If you want to force it to dial out on your home phone line, you simply dial #0 first. Your call then goes out on the normal phone line, not wandoo. Very cool. I have one cordless DECT system that runs everything.

A lot of people seem to have had a lot of problems with wanadoo and the Livebox and are quick to complain. I totally agree that Wanadoo tech support is VERY POOR. I simply followed all instructions step by step and had virtually no probs, just the belkin card. My livebox arrived in two days! If I can help anyone, please ask!

please can you let me know the details of where you got the switch for the two phones in one...sounds quality!

I've given up on the print share as having trouble with me old Win 98 machine working! agree though that if the instructions are followed it is straight forward setting up

Yes, have a look at this link:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=519 9441619&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores

There are good pictures and an excellent diagram in the info. If the link doesn't work, paste the whole thing into your address line.

Cheers, Clarky

Well the two line telephone switch box arrived today. Took a little bit of setting up and obtaining the correct leads etc. The livebox reset itself a few times during the setup??? But all is now working OK and I'm a happy man! When I dial out it goes through the wanadoo line, (unless you dial #0 first to dial on your BT line) and when either line receives a call, your phones ring! When one of the lines is in use, the other is automatically "busy".

A few tips to help you. The mains plug is american so you need a shaver adaptor to plug it in. No big deal really. Secondly, spend time getting the right leads. You need Two leads and the adaptor that came with the livebox. A lead to go from the livebox phone socket (white line) to the switch box, a lead to go from your BT line to the switch box, then the adaptor lead (supplied with the livebox) that lets you connect your phone to the switch box. Sounds complicated but it isn't! Just remember that "modem" leads are configured differently to "telephone" leads. Any problems, feel free to ask! You do get a setup guide with it.

It all works very well. If you are going to use the wanadoo line for making calls but still want to receive calls from your home phone line, get one of these!

Just to confirm I have three wireless devices connected to my livebox, and an ethernet print server thats connected to the livebox network port. I can share files and folders and all 3 machines can print no problem. Also went to grc.com and did a "ShieldsUp" test and all my ports are running in "true stealth mode". You can't get much better.

Well done Wanadoo (& Inventel)
